Key Profile Facts (Categorized)
Fee & Exchange Rate Structure
- Public Fee Summary
- Official homepage: 20 USDC to issue a virtual card, 70 USDC for a physical card (35 USDC during the launch promotion), with the annual fee waived in year one and 20 USDC/year from year two. The official help centre separately lists a 2.2% settlement fee and a 1% FX fee currently waived for a limited period. The monthly spending cap is 3,000 USDC (the official page equates this to about ¥500,000).
- Debit / Deduction Model
- USDC pre-funding with Visa credit-card settlement: USDC on Solana or Ethereum is topped up into the app wallet, moved to the card balance, and settled at the conversion rate shown in the app at the time of purchase
Application Eligibility & KYC
- KYC Identity Verification
- KYC required. The official help centre says applicants must be at least 18, live in Japan, and be able to complete identity verification with a My Number Card. The application flow accepts either a My Number Card or a driver's licence; licence verification is unavailable to anyone who has changed their name or address since it was issued.
- Officially supported countries and regions
- Japan residents only, aged 18 or over, with identity verified by My Number Card or driver's licence; the official pages publish no application channel for other countries.
Payment Compatibility & Issuer Rails
- Card Network & Rails
- Visa (the official homepage says it works at Visa merchants worldwide; virtual and physical card variants)
- Issuer Arrangement / Payment Rails
- Slash Vision Japan K.K. (the official pages do not name the issuing bank or the BIN holder). The card BIN is not public, and this page does not speculate about it.
- Apple Pay / Google Pay
- The official help centre article on Slash Card's ancillary services lists Apple Pay among features not currently supported.
- Overseas AI Subscriptions
- The official documentation says nothing about OpenAI, Claude or similar subscriptions; the virtual card can be used online, but whether a charge goes through depends on the merchant's gateway, so the actual result of a payment is the only reliable answer.
Spending Rewards & Cardholder Perks
- Cashback & Reward Rules
- Neither the homepage nor the help centre publishes a spending cashback rate; the only reward available now is a referral programme, and the official pages say a Card Rank membership tier system is coming.
This is a summary of the cited public information, not a complete list of fees or regions and not a guarantee of approval or card access.

Help centre article "Cancellation guide": at least about one week must have passed since the card was last used, there must be no unsettled spending, and the card balance must be zero (for the last remaining card, everything must be withdrawn to the wallet). The cancellation request form at the bottom of the page then asks for name, registered email, and the last four digits of the card number. Customer support sends a completion email once processing finishes, after which the cardholder cuts through the IC chip on the physical card. The annual fee is not refunded, and using the service again means repeating identity verification and card issuance from the start. Transaction history stays viewable in the app after cancellation. The help centre has no separate data-deletion entry; the privacy policy only says erasure can be requested through the contact point.
Verified on 2026-10-22. App store availability and privacy disclosures are independently verified from official developer stores and privacy policies; store availability may vary dynamically by region.
How funding works and which chains are supported
Slash splits funds across two layers: the connected source wallet and the card-balance wallet. You first move USDC from your own wallet into the app wallet, then from the app wallet to the card balance. The official homepage lists Solana and Ethereum as supported, with Base, Arbitrum and HyperEVM marked coming soon; the help centre also has a guide to bridging USDC from Ethereum to Solana inside the app. That path means the card does not debit an on-chain wallet directly — you have to top it up yourself. [3]
The PayPay route changed after August 2026
The official help centre states that from 31 August 2026 PayPay stopped accepting direct credit-card payment other than with the PayPay Card and certain Sumitomo Mitsui cards, and that from 1 September 2026 a Slash Card can only be used in the PayPay app by buying a third-party card voucher. A card already registered as a payment method can no longer be charged directly. The change comes from PayPay's own rule revision, not a unilateral shutdown by Slash. [4]
Cancelling forfeits any card balance
The official help centre article on cancellation states that once cancellation completes the card number stops working immediately, any remaining card balance is forfeited, and as a rule there is no refund and no transfer to another card. Annual fees already paid are not refunded except where law requires it, and are not prorated by month. Before cancelling you must bring the balance to zero and wait for the last purchase to settle.
